Dietetics

Ben Sit, RD, Sports Dietitian, ISAK Level 1 As a sports dietitian, I was educated at Ryerson University’s School of Nutrition (Now known as Toronto Metro University). Graduating from my Dietetic Internship from the Sunnybrook Dietetics Internship Program in 2010 and then received a Sports Dietitian Certificate from the Sports Dietitians of Australia. My deep understanding of the challenges faced by active people is a product of the fact that I am an athlete myself. Working with everyone from weekend warriors to the nationally ranked professionals, from Olympic champions to celebrities, I thrive on creating unique, customized interventions for each athlete who seeks me out. The past few years has really changed how I approach nutrition and health. With more of a Coaching mindset and integrating motivational interviewing, CBT and DBT strategies into my counselling style I am now helping clients with disordered eating repair their relationship with food by helping them understand how their emotions, hormones, environment, childhood and many other variables impact their food choices. I help clients address the root issue behind their behaviours instead of just dealing with the symptoms. When I’m not preparing for my next marathon or bike race, I can often be found cooking up a storm, having trained as both a chef and a pastry chef. Given my dual interests in athletics and food, becoming a sports dietitian made perfect sense. A dedicated traveller, I offer an extensive knowledge of different cuisines and cooking styles to my clients.
